This Mt Rainier day trip begins with a convenient hotel pickup in Seattle or near the SeaTac Airport. Then prepare for a narrated, scenic drive featuring Alder Lake Park and the town of Eatonville at the foothills of Mt Rainier.

Stop at Longmire, the visitor center at the southwest corner of the park, to explore their museum and National Park Inn. Visit Christine Falls, with one of the signature views in Mt Rainier National Park (look for the bridge). Then walk along the Nisqually River up to Narada Falls, considered the most popular waterfall in Mt Rainier State Park. It’s taller than Niagara Falls at 188 feet.

Then it’s off to the pinnacle event of the day: the view at Paradise, which is 5,400 feet above sea level. Purchase lunch here and take in the incredible view of Mt Rainier and the valley below. Be on the lookout for wildlife wandering around the mountain at any time.

During the wintertime, choose from an optional snowshoe or sled adventure, if conditions allow. During the summertime, simply enjoy the scene at Reflection Lake, which provides one of the most iconic views of Mt Rainier. It’s absolutely stunning. Be sure to bring a camera.

Finally, visit the Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise to learn more about the history of Mt Rainier, including a brief film about it.

Then it’s back down the mountain to hit the road back to Seattle.

Great trip and guide/terrible bus ride
Marcia_R
, May 2022
Cory was a great guide and Mt. Rainier is beautiful. We made lots of stops to take pictures. Unfortunately my husband and I had to sit at the very back of the bus. In this position you feel every bump and jolt of which there were many. Also the back row seats have some kind of metal imbankment on the inside seat which makes getting comfortable impossible. For 2 people in their late 60's not ideal. Still the beauty of the mountains is worth it. Just try to sit closer to the front

Snow if May 2022

Mr. Joe was a great driver, tour guide and overall fun guy. It was a snowy day in late May for this Mt Ranier day so some trails were not open. Even with some closures and access if you didn't have the proper gear it was a fun informational day tour. We stopped at a local grocery store to stock up on provisions for the day and again on the way back since we had some time. Fun option if you don't want to rent a car and drive yourself. Not as much walking as expected but fun to see snow, fresh snow while we were there.

This trip was fantastic from booking to end. Our tour guide, Joe, was made for the job. You get stops at grocery store at beginning and end which was super nice. And the tour is just beautiful. I would go on but I'm limited in characters.

Thank you for saying as much as you could with the limited characters. We appreciate you taking the time to review our tour guided by Joe.

A Great Day Tour to Mt Rainier NP
retiredmls
, May 2022
A great experience with Lucas as our guide. Because of the rain & drizzle, he arranged our itinerary to give us the best chance of seeing Rainier when the weather was predicted to be better in the afternoon. We actually did get to stop & see a bit of the mountain on the way out of the park. Every stop Lucas took us to was absolutely beautiful. He also gave suggestions of things to do for various activity levels. A long day but so worth it.

Thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear the weather did cooperate a bit in the end.

Excellent tour and guide

Lucas was an excellent tour guide. He was so very knowledgeable providing historical facts throughout the entire ride and day at Mt. Rainier. He was a great driver and very helpful and accommodating at all times, He went above and beyond to stop at the most beautiful locations to let us explore and give us time to take some incredibly beautiful pictures. Overall the trip was great! Only disappointment was that Viator told me I couldn’t get picked up at my downtown hotel and I had to pay about $18 to take a Lyft to a different hotel just a couple of miles from mine for pickup. As it turned out at time of drop off, Lucas confirmed he could drop us off at our hotel and we were very happy to hear this!

Great tour! Lucas was fun, knowledgeable, and friendly. We got to see lots of different areas in the park, and (unexpectedly) saw a big snowstorm in mid May! It made for some beautiful scenery. My only advice to travelers is to make sure you wear waterproof hiking shoes. Thanks for a great day!
icon Response from Host , May 2022
Thank you for sharing your experience and reviewing Lucas. Great advise about wearing waterproof shoes.
