My family and I are glad we decided to take the tour to Hana. It was quite a ride but Hana is not a destination, it’s about experiencing the whole journey navigating through the rain forest and living in the moment of being surrounded by nature. Our driver Jessie definitely made the trip fun as he was full of energy and shared a lot of stories about the Road to Hana. Bring cash, there are a lot of local vendors (auntie virgie’s jewelry shop, auntie sandy’s banana bread, coconut stop). Went end of April 2022 and it was drizzling (only in Hana). Take Dramamine before the trip!
The most unprofessional experience i have ever had. Not only did they juke us out of our private tour, they left my daughter without food for 10 hours (didn't order er the sandwich she picked). The guide was good but really full of it. The owner had the chance to apologize numerous times during the trip and did not. I am getting my $ back through my bank.
I would like to thank our tour guide for bringing everyone back safely to their hotels. Please look at the title and tell me where it says private? We do have private tours. All of our tours that are private has wording "private." As you can see from the review that it was written on says "small group road to hana adventure tour with pickup." Richard and I ask you for confirmation sheet that you had, but you never showed it or proved that you were confirmed for private tour. Also, the food was verified that you ordered 1 veggie wrap. He said one of the other people took it. I asked Richard and he did apologize for the mistake on the food and offered to buy you food at Hana farms, but it was only one person that did not get the food, so we did refund $15 for one veggie meal. There are at least 30 companies that offer tour to Hana. You booked it on Viator and it automatically comes in as what you booked. Look at the title. Look at the site you showed us. It's completely different. We took you on the tour in good faith. Everyone on that day booked the same tour that you booked. I asked you for the confirmation sheet. Where is the confirmation sheet? You booked our tour which is "Small Group Road to Hana Adventure Tour with Pickup." We did provide you with exactly this tour. We are a mama/pop business. If you take money from us through bank, that is like you are stealing from us. At least provide to us proof that you booked private tour. We asked you on the morning of the tour. I have been asking for your confirmation sheet which you got when you booked it. You never did. This is not fair for you to just get money through your bank. Send me the confirmation, please. You haven't been showing it because made a mistake on booking the wrong tour. This is unfair for you to accuse us of changing private tour to "Small Group Road to Hana Adventure Tour with Pickup."
What a wonderful trip. Originally planned to drive ourselves and chose to do a tour instead. So glad we did. First and foremost was a tour guide “Mom”, aka Lisa.
She was so informative, giving and FUN!!!
Lisa purchased all sorts of fruit for us all to try and share. She also made the trip so much fun and left us with many great memories. (We have shouted and wished several times through the tunnel since Tuesday!!)
Another fact I learned while on this trip is that the “L” on the side of the Kahālāwai hills. does not stand for the Lahaina High school as I thought…..I learned it stands for “Lisa”, and that they actually light it up on her Birthday, because she is such a special person!
Seriously, The scenery and history is something I will never forget. It was such a wonderful day and feel blessed we had Lisa as our tour guide.
Mahalo nui loa!!
This was a great experience that my family would have never done otherwise. Lisa was our tour guide and she was completely amazing. I don’t know how many local, exotic fruits she paid for us all to try and stopped absolutely anywhere we wanted to. We had the perfect size group and van. It could not have been a better experience. 100% once in a lifetime.
This tour was amazing, our tour guide Malissa was so awesome. She shared alot of information and great Hawaiian culture. Her passion about the island made us feel more connected and excited for each and every stop we made. I was a bit worried about the tour do to reviews I read. However I'm glad I booked and very pleased Malissa was our guide, from the black sand beach to the waterfall she was checking in making sure we were all ok. Each and every place is gorgeous and unique.
We had Christy as our tour guide and she was the best! Best driver I've ever seen and she kept it real with her wealth of experience and knowledge. She was super nice too! I had left a towel in her truck and she stopped by my hotel on her way home and returned it to me! By far, this is the best way to see Maui!
Our tour leader, Richard, was awesome! He taught us so much along the way and participated in everything we did. The second half of the road was shut down but we made the best of it with stops at cool local stops with great people! Our photos from the trip are stunning.
The trip and food were amazing. However, there were just two of us in my party and we couldn’t sit together on the van. Three vans and they couldn’t arrange for two people to sit together? This feels pretty basic for a tour company.
The tour guide was new, which is ok (everyone needs to start somewhere) but her stories were overly personally and less informative about the island. In fact, one lady in our van was hurt from falling on stairs without any warning that they were slippery and sloped wonky.
IF you can sit with your party and get an informative guide, I can only imagine how wonderful this would have been.
Amazing views! Please take an antiemetic before the trip if you get nauseaus easily! The road is very very curvy, but very very enjoyable! Try the banana bread at the Hana Farm. Get into the waterfall! It is very fun to do!
We had the best time on this road to Hana tour! Marty was an amazing tour guide, he was very knowledgeable and any question he didn’t know the answer to he found out before the end of the tour. He was great at suggesting things to do on Maui and it seemed like he was having just as much fun at the tour group. We experienced things that we probably wouldn’t have if we drove solo. Highly recommend!
Justin was our tour guide and he was hilarious and kept the tour very interesting. We had such a great time and all the sites to see are breathtakingly beautiful! Highly recommend!
I get motion sickness easily, I took Dramamine and a pressure point bracelet and didn’t get motion sickness at all!
