On the outskirts of Vegas, once the neon lights fade and the sound of traffic is replaced by the rush of the wind, the Valley of Fire is a geologic wonder that’s best explored on two feet. On this Valley of Fire hiking excursion, marvel at Native American petroglyphs that are believed to be 3,000 years old, and enjoy the multihued desert scenery in Nevada’s oldest state park. Pass Lake Mead and the Moapa Indian Reservation. This small-group tour has a variable duration—depending on the difficulty of hike you choose.
  • Choose an easy, moderate, or difficult guided hike among the red rock formations and petroglyphs
  • Keep your energy up with complimentary snacks and water
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off included
  • Small-group tour limited to 13 people for a more intimate, interactive experience

Returns to original departure point
Depending upon which option you choose, this Valley of Fire hiking tour either leaves Las Vegas at sunrise, or later in the day in the late morning or early afternoon. Once you meet with the rest of your group, which won’t exceed 13 people, leave the lights of Vegas behind and begin to commune with nature, as you travel out into the wide-open desert.

Along the drive, make a stop at the Moapa Indian Reservation to pick up some fireworks, liquor, or cigarettes that are completely duty-free.

When you enter the Valley of Fire State Park, your guide explains the area’s history as well as its fascinating geology, and leads you to the trailhead of whichever hike you’ve chosen.

Over the course of the trek through the park, learn about the erosion and seismic fault lines that have created the rugged terrain, all while surrounded by a surreal landscape of enormous, deeply red rocks. For thousands of years, Native American-Indian tribes have lived and survived in this landscape, and your guide offers some fascinating insight to their legends, history, and myths, as well as point out some ancient petroglyphs that have been here for 3,000 years.

Water and snacks are provided for the hike, and once you’ve conquered the dusty trail and soaked up the epic beauty, you have the chance to explore the Valley of Fire official visitors center. On the car ride back to Las Vegas, rest your legs and watch the scene slowly change outside the window, as the windswept desert slowly gives to the glitz, glamor, and lights.

Traveler Tips

  • "It is easy to stay to the main areas but if you are with a guide they can take you 'off piste' and show you lesser known or travelled areas."
  • "It was probably something like 2.5-3 hours of actual hiking which was certainly not easy given the extreme heat even in the very early morning hours." See review

It was beautiful, weather was great and not too many people. Sara was our driver/guide and she was patient with a bunch of us 11. We have always used Viator all around the world and always been good to great experiences. They are always on time in picking up and getting you back.
Great Experience for Solo Traveler

It was a great hike! Our tour guide had water and snacks for us through out the whole hike and she even let me use a backpack when I didn’t bring one. The area was truly beautiful and a must see when in Vegas. I traveled to Vegas by myself and this was a nice way to do something with other people traveling.
Awesome experience!

First timers in Vegas and we wanted to do something away from the craziness of the strip so we booked this hike and it was the best thing ever! Our guide Monet was so welcoming and cool. She asked what we wanted to see and she delivered on some beautiful sights, pictures, and history. We would definitely book again with Love Hikes, on time, clean van, snacks, water, and a great time!!

Challenging hike
, Mar 2021
Sara was wonderful. She picked us from the hotel on time. It was small group trip(4 people total). She has snacks and water for us. Also, she had small bags for us to carry our water. We did the Challenging hike which she helped me to over come my fear of heights. She knew the park very well. She was able to answer all our questions. We got 3 miles done. We had a great time. Check the weather because it get very hard there during the summer time. Morning are the best time to hike during spring and summer time.

Best hiking experience thanks to Mason. I booked advanced hike and he delivered. I was the only one on the hike so we covered a lot of ground. I felt safe at all times. Confirmation of pickup time and location was right on. A big thanks to Roberta who set it all up!

What a fun hike. Mason is a great guide, willing to go off-trail if the group wants and also added a side hike that we wanted to see. Beautiful scenery with unique features. Highly recommended!

a slot canyon hike has been on my to do list for a long while. I didn’t realize Valley of Fire had a slot canyon. The hike and guide was a highlight of our Vegas trip.
