Stanley Park

Georgia Street West, Vancouver

The Basics

There are several ways to experience the beauty and history of Stanley Park. Pass by on a Vancouver sightseeing tour, take a guided tour along its wooded trails, or check out the First Nations Interpretive Walking Tour, which explains the local indigenous history and culture.

Alternatively, get creative on a guided photography tour of the temperate rain forest before exploring the park’s winding cycling and hiking paths. Meanwhile, families with kids can stop at the Vancouver Aquarium and the Stanley Park Miniature Train.

Bob, the tour guide is very knowledgeable, he knows so much about the city and Stanley Park. I learned a lot about the story and history of Stanley Park from him. It was enjoyable bike ride tour along the seawall. Highly recommended for those who want to explore one of Vancouver’s natural wonders.

Vancouver Secrets of Stanley Park Walking Tour
Even though we had a quite large (19) group, Theo did a super job of keeping everyone engaged and interested. We had no trouble hearing him….even with the occasional seaplane take-off in the nearby harbor. I’m really glad we decided to take this tour….it was interesting, as well as educational.

David, our bike tour guide, took us on a fun jaunt through Stanley Park and a bit of downtown Vancouver. It was a pretty easy, smooth ride and a few stops to learn about the area. I highly recommend this tour with David & Cycle City!

Stanley Park Bike Tour
Lucas was very informative and the pace and length was just right for having arrived in town the night before. We had only three people in our group and that was great. Vancouver is an easy city to view by bike. Many bike only lanes even in downtown. Great way to see Stanley Park in a short time.

Greg was our guide and he was extremely knowledgeable and was very fun and lighthearted. We learned so much on our tour and had such a great time! He was even able to "que the eagles" and two bald eagles flew out just as we were looking for them! Such fun and this was a highlight of our trip! Highly recommend- ask for Greg!

Bike Tour of Downtown Vancouver and Stanley Park
The tour was amazing! Jeremy was an excellent guide. He knew so much about the city, its history, and all the interesting points. He also took his time and let us stop when we needed to. He brought along water and snacks for us which we didn't expect. I recommend this tour, especially with Jeremy as a guide, to anyone who wants to see downtown Vancouver and enjoy the loop around Stanley Park on bike. Thank you Jeremy!

  • Old-fashioned horse-drawn carriages offer 1-hour tours and are a great—and romantic—way to get an overview of the area.

  • Restaurants and cafés are scattered throughout the park.

  • Stanley Park is wheelchair and stroller accessible for the most part, but some more rugged trails may be off-limits.

How to Get There

Stanley Park is located at the west end of downtown Vancouver and the park’s information booth is located near the Georgia Street entrance. Walking and cycling paths lead from downtown to the peninsula where the park is located, but the TransLink #19 bus and Skytrain are also options. When to Get There

The park is open year-round; March to November bring the mildest weather, and it can get quite cold in the winter. To have the park (more or less) to yourself, the best times to visit are typically early morning and mid- to late afternoon.

Where to Find Stanley Park’s Best Views

Certainly one of the best views in Stanley Park is from the seawall looking over to the Vancouver skyline and Coal Harbour. For natural beauty, it’s tough to beat the views of the surrounding mountains, but the rose garden and beaches come close. There’s also the wildlife, including bald eagles, beavers, and birds. Culturally-speaking, the First Nations art and totem poles are a must, while ther scenic spots include the Lost Lagoon, Hollow Tree, and Beaver Lake.
