The voyageurs were responsible for the Western settlement expansion of Canada by utilizing large canoes that held many people. Voyageur Canoe and Horseback Ride
Your day will begin at the Barrier Lake Day Use Area, where you will climb into our voyageur canoe and paddle the breathtaking Barrier Lake. A leisurely paddle along the shore of this lake is the perfect addition to any visit to Kananaskis. As you paddle along the rugged shoreline surrounded by mountains, be sure to watch for the wildlife that frequent this area!
Once you return to shore, you will drive south on the picturesque Highway 40, and right into cowboy country. When you arrive at Boundary Ranch, you will enjoy a sumptuous ranch lunch before heading out on horseback.
This trail ride is a great introduction to our riding terrain: You will travel through wooded trails, past picturesque ponds with the Kananaskis Range towering against the blue Alberta skies.
